A real platform, not a hosted iframe.
MonkNote is a vanilla JavaScript widget under 50kb gzipped, backed by a Cloudflare Worker API and a D1 database that lives in your account. Comments are streamed back to every open page with server-sent events, so a new reply lands without anyone refreshing. Moderation runs through OpenAI Moderation as a free baseline, with optional stricter rules per site.
Because the widget is plain JS and the data is yours, MonkNote works with any stack: static blogs, Next.js, Astro, WordPress, Shopify, raw HTML. An optional server-side render mode emits the existing thread as HTML at build or request time, so search engines see the conversation even before the script runs.
No third-party visitor tracking. No cross-site cookies. No upsells injected into your comments section. Same architecture I build for clients, sold as a self-serve product.
